The Best Video Length for a Live Wallpaper

Short answer: 3–5 seconds for iPhone, 5–15 seconds for Android. Here's the reasoning, plus tricks to make any length loop beautifully.

iPhone: under 5 seconds (hard limit)

Apple's Live Photo format caps at roughly 5 seconds. Anything longer gets truncated during conversion. Aim for 3–4 seconds of clean motion — a wave crashing, steam rising, one turn of your kid's cartwheel.

Android: 5–15 seconds (sweet spot)

Android wallpaper apps loop whatever you give them, but longer clips mean bigger files, more RAM and more battery. Between 5 and 15 seconds you get variety without cost. Most of the best-looking wallpapers stay under 10.

Make it loop seamlessly
